THE ASK
Promote the December 21, 2018 theatrical release of Aquaman by providing Amazon customers with something extra.
THE IDEA
We partnered with Warner Bros. to promote the Prime Early Access (PES) program - a perk that enabled Amazon Prime members to purchase tickets for an early Aquaman screening. This partnership was promoted on the home page of Amazon.com and within two spots during Thursday Night Football on Thanksgiving.
THE RESULTS
Within 10 days of launching the promotion, Aquaman ticket sales surpassed total campaign sales for the two previous PES promotions combined. A 36% increase in PES customer demand led to us secure over 400 additional screens for the early showings.
QUOTES FROM THE PRESS:
Fortune
“Amazon has already started rolling out its Black Friday deals and now it’s offering Prime members the opportunity to see Aquaman a week before it officially heads to U.S. theaters.”
The Verge
“The promotion continues Amazon’s historically amicable relationship with cinemas, which sits in contrast to its rival Netflix.”
UPROXX
“Amazon Prime members already receive a wealth of goods for their dollars, including streaming access to all of these TV shows and movies, but an unexpected new perk might be enough to convince some holdouts to sign up for the service. Well, maybe that will be the case, but I suspect that this will mainly be an additional bonus for already devoted Prime members who happen to be fans of both comic books and/or a shirtless Jason Momoa.”
